Chinook: One Fine Dog Breed

The Chinook belong to the rare dog breeds that many pet owners would love to own and care for. It is a kind of sled dog that was reared in the New England state during the start of 1900’s. For many, the Chinook is seriously considered as belonging to the finest and best dog breeds that exist.

The name comes from a very popular sled dog. When the founder of Chinook breed died in 1963, the breed declined until it was discovered in the 1980’s by some dog lovers who decided to work on the restoration and flourishing of the Chinook.

Whether you have light or heavy load, the Chinook, being a big working breed, can pull anything for you with its big frame and muscled built. The dog owns a double coat, with the longer, much coarser hairs covering the undercoat.

The Chinook has a broad-type skull, chiseled cheeks, expressive eyes, and a furred tail that forms into a sickle when the dog is aroused or alerted. Generally, the Chinooks are one of those rare dog breeds that show both friendliness and aggressiveness. It likes people and can be calm and amiable when among them, but is fearless when the need arises. It is obviously intelligent and very regal in appearance.
